Justice (retd) Nazmun Ara Sultana has been appointed director general of the Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI).
Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a gazette notification as to the appointment on Wednesday.
Signed by Law and Justice Division secretary Md Golam Sarwar the gazette said the government appointed Justice (retd) Nazmun Ara Sultana director general of JATI exercising power vested by section 11 (2) of Judicial Administration Training Institute Act.
The tenure of the new service of the country’s first female judge Nazmun Ara Sultana is two years.
On December 20, 1975, Nazmun Ara joined the judicial service as assistant judge. She was appointed as High Court justice in 2000. She was elevated to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in 2011. She went on retirement on July 7, 2017.
